Who makes this
LevlPrep is an independent project, not a company and not a training program. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way connected to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, any state EMS office, any EMS training program, or any university. Nothing here is an official practice exam, and no score on this site predicts a score on the real one.
The site is free, has no ads, and does not sell anything. Its privacy policy lists everything it records.
The NREMT-EMT question bank
Every question is original. None is copied from the National Registry, from a textbook's test bank, or from another prep product. They are written to the structure of the National Registry's EMT content outline: the five official content areas, with assessment split out as a sixth domain here because it runs through all of them.
The clinical content is written against the material every accredited EMT course teaches, which is set by the National EMS Education Standards and the EMT instructional guidelines. Where a question turns on a specific figure or sequence, the reference points are:
- CPR, AED and resuscitation: the current American Heart Association guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care, including the BLS algorithms for adults, children and infants.
- Bleeding control: the tourniquet-first approach in current Stop the Bleed and prehospital trauma guidance.
- Triage: the START and JumpSTART systems.
- Vital-sign ranges, drug indications and contraindications: the ranges and rules taught at the EMT level in the standard textbooks written to the Education Standards.
Protocols vary by state, region and medical director. Where they do, a question follows the national standard and the explanation says so. Your local protocol wins on the truck, and your program's material wins on your state's exam.
How the bank is checked
Beyond the writing itself, the bank passes an automated check on every change to the site, and the change is rejected if it fails:
- The keyed answer sits in no one option position more than 40% of the time, and select-all-that-apply keys don't cluster on one set. Options are also shuffled per browser, so the letter you see is yours alone.
- The longest option is the correct one no more than 32% of the time, against roughly 25% by chance, and that ceiling only ever goes down. A bank that rewards "pick the long one" teaches test-taking, not medicine.
- Every question has an explanation, and the explanation is what the tutor and the review screen show, so a thin one is visible immediately.
- Every count the site advertises is compared against the bank itself, so the number you read is the number that exists.
What no script can check is whether an answer is clinically right. That is editorial work, and it is never finished.
The Organic Chemistry course
The course follows a standard one-semester Organic Chemistry I sequence: structure and bonding, acids and bases, stereochemistry, substitution and elimination, alkenes and alkynes, alcohols and ethers, spectroscopy, and an introduction to carbonyl and aromatic chemistry. It is written to be a learning product, not an exam-prep product: the lessons make you perform each mechanism, and the mastery score is built from what you got right, not what you opened.
- pKa values in the acid/base tool and the lessons are the widely tabulated values used in undergraduate teaching (water-scale for common acids, DMSO-scale where that is the standard reference), rounded to the precision an introductory course uses.
- Conformational energies (A-values, torsional and eclipsing costs) are the standard textbook figures.
- Spectroscopy ranges (IR regions, ¹H NMR chemical shifts) are the standard correlation-table values; the NMR predictor is a rules-based estimate, not a measured spectrum.
- The mechanism checker and reaction predictor are rules-based. They encode the textbook rules for arrow pushing, formal charge, octets and the substitution-versus-elimination decision. They are meant to catch the mistakes an introductory course cares about; they are not a substitute for a real reaction database.
The study assistant
The assistant in the corner of each page answers first by quoting the site's own material: the reference pages and explanations for NREMT, the textbook fragments for Organic Chemistry. When it is set up to call an AI model, that model is given the same passages and asked to write from them. It can still be wrong. Treat it as a fast way to find the passage, and read the passage.
When something is wrong
No bank of two thousand questions is free of mistakes, and no script can check whether an answer is clinically right. When a key or an explanation is corrected, the change is listed on What’s new with the date, so you can see what moved since you last studied. Where a question and your program's material disagree, your program's material wins on your state's exam.
